Craft Workshops 2022-23

Tara Shahan was raised in a small town in the Appalachian foothills of southern Ohio until about the age of 12.  Her upbringing included being a member in the Patchworkers 4-H club, where most of her projects consisted of food, sewing and crafts taught by her mother, a 4-H leader. Hensley won ribbons for her work at local and state fairs, including an award for Outstanding of the Day at the Ohio State Fair. Hensley now lives in West Plains.

“For the most part I have created things for my own home but now have decided to share those things that I create and cherish so much,” says Hensley. “My passion is for what they are calling these days – rustic, primitive and farmhouse.  Most of my items have been upcycled from a vintage piece or made from a common household item. This is what inspires me.  Of course, I love frequenting vintage resale shops and antique stores for my inspirations, so most items that I make are pre-loved and show wear. DIY is a way of life in the Midwest.  Thou art blessed who “rescues” unwanted items.”

Create the elegant beauty of classic stained glass using a picture frame, instant faux lead line and gallery glass paint.  Your stained-glass barn quilt will be beautiful in a window, on a wall, or mantle.  Choose from pastels and jewel tones to paint your barn quilt. 12”x 12”. It’s time to start thinking about Christmas presents. In this class you will create two glass-etched pie dishes. You will be able to keep one and give the other as a gift or keep both if you want! There are several designs available for you to choose from and you will have the option to paint your etching if you so desire.  Pick two designs when registering for workshop.

In this workshop you will create this beautiful, personalized Sunflower Harvest floral arrangement. The paint stick crate is painted white with black lettering.  The floral arrangement includes sunflowers, cat tails, cotton picks, berry spray, greenery, and your choice of white or orange pumpkin.  You will also learn how to make the sweet buffalo plaid bow as well.  The crate is 14” wide, 6” tall and 4 ½ “deep.
