West Plains Council on the Arts welcomes sustaining members.

Please review the information below, and if interested, a membership form is available here.

West Plains Council on the Arts (WPCA) is seeking members/patrons to contribute to their efforts in the West Plains area.  Board members say, “The West Plains region is home to a vibrant arts community, and we feel continuing to grow that vital component is important to quality of life for our residents and for the future of our community.”

WPCA, through the years with many dedicated individuals, has been providing support and assistance to arts endeavors in the West Plains area since 1975. Their stated mission is to stimulate and foster public participation in cultural activities, and to disseminate the knowledge and product of such cultural activities to the public in order to broaden the appreciation and availability of the arts in the West Plains region.

WPCA provides educational programs which support innovation and creative expression in the arts; presents artists and art forms that promote artistic and cultural diversity; provides guidance, resources and infrastructure to develop non-profit community-based arts groups; and sponsors festivals, competitions and awards to promote and support artists, and to celebrate and preserve the traditional culture of the region.”

Current programs include serving as the primary sponsor for the Old-Time Music, Ozark Heritage Festival; four art exhibits per year showcasing area artists (along with Meet the Artist events), the Community Messiah Sing each November, an annual Fine Arts scholarship, sponsorship of “These Ozarks Hills” radio segments, the opening reception program for the annual Ozarks Studies Symposium, and working to build the local arts community members through our Arts Alliance.

Funding for these programs is provided in part through grants from the Missouri Arts Council. The remaining funds are supplied through donations and the proceeds from West Plain BrewFest, their primary fundraiser. WPCA is now offering sustaining memberships to community members/businesses who wish to see these, and new, programs continue. “Your membership shows that you care about sustaining a creative community and it keeps you apprised of all the wonderful events and performances in the area,” says President Kathleen Morrissey.

Tax-deductible donation includes:

  • Membership/sponsorship acknowledged in each newsletter (3/year) and on the WPCA website.
  • Reserved blocks of preferred seating at events.
  • Discounts for WPCA paid events.
  • The opportunity to meet with the board four times a year during the “Lunch with Art” events to share your thoughts and vision for the future endeavors of WPCA.
