Fostering the preservation and understanding of regional culture.
Each year Missouri State University-West Plains Ozarks Studies Committee sponsors a two-day event to foster the preservation and understanding of our regional culture. Presenters come from many states to share their knowledge and talents.
West Plains Council on the Arts sponsors an opening reception for attendees and the general public the evening before the Symposium.
Entrance to the symposium is free and pre-registration is not required. Those who attend will be invited to register on site when they arrive.
The Ozarks Studies Committee is sponsoring this program in partnership with Missouri State University-West Plains, Carol Silvey (Member of the Missouri State University Board of Governors), and The West Plains Council on the Arts.

For purposes of this symposium, the Ozarks is defined broadly to encompass much of southern Missouri and northern Arkansas and adjacent portions of Oklahoma, Kansas and Illinois.
